Chemical Health Programs

The mission of the Red Lake Chemical Health Programs is to enhance the well being of all Red Lake Tribal Band Members through alcohol and drug abuse prevention, education, intervention, and treatment.

All programs are based in Anishinaabe culture and philosophy to strengthen the minds, bodies, and spirits of Red Lake Reservation members, families and communities.

Indian & Free Drug Prevention/Treatment Program

The Indian & Free Drug Prevention/Treatment Program strengthens all efforts to provide alternatives for the youth and adults on the Red Lake Reservation to promote social and behavioral skills needed to lie a chemical free lifestyle.

Most importantly, to promote a healthy lifestyle to all four communities:

Our unique aspect with the Indian & Free Drug Prevention/Treatment Program is that it is the only Federal Block Grant Awarded to and Indian Reservation.

Red Lake Group Home

Referrals to the Red Lake Group Home are most often initiated by the Court System and/or Social Services in an effort to provide troubled youth and opportunity for change.

Most referrals are youth who are having a difficulty at home, school or within the community.

The Group Home gives these young people an opportunity to explore their current behavior/attitudes and a chance to discover a healthier and more positive lifestyle. It is our goal to provide quality care to each resident during their program at the Group home and to promote a positive transition back into their homes and community.

Our target population is American Indian Youth, however, we will accept non-Indian adolescents, who need placement in a structured program.

If you would like to consider us as a placement resource, the following is needed prior to admission:

Gii-Waa-Din (Northern Winds) Treatment Center Oosh-kii-mii-kah-nah (New Roads) Halfway House

The Mission of the Red Lake Nation Oosh-Kii-Mii-Kah-Nah Halfway House is to provide the best quality Chemical Dependency Primary Treatment services to all Red Lake Nation Tribal enrolled members and all Federally Recognized Tribal Members, residin on/off the Red Lake Nation Reservation. This is achieved by treating every client individually and blending our Native American Traditions and Beleifs with the 12-Step Alcoholics Anonymous program, in accordance with Minnesota State Statue.

Oosh-Kii-Mii-Kah-Nah does not discrimiate against people regardless of their race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age or disabilities.

Oosh-Kii-Mii-Kah-Nah is under the direction of the Red Lake Chemical Health Programs and is governed by the Red Lake Band of Tribal Council.

Oosh-Kii-Mii-Kah-Nah is a 15-bed co-ed facility: 10 male, 5 female.
