IT Department
Information Technology
The Red Lake Nation MIS/IT Department was founded in 2007. Over the past 17 years, the network has grown and adapted to the ever-changing technologies available. The IT Department is responsible for managing and maintaining the security and administration for the entire network that is spread across all four reservation communities, as well as Duluth, Bemidji and Minneapolis.
The department maintains the telephone and email systems for the Tribal government. Additionally, IT is responsible for managing, maintaining and deploying all workstations, including more than 1,000 desktops and laptops, as well as managing the cellphone system for government staff.
In 2016, Red Lake invested in Laserfiche to handle business processes, including Purchase Orders, Travel Authorizations, Reimbursements, Contracts, etc. In the subsequent years, the system has grown to include several department-specific forms, as well as a repository for archived documents.
Records Management was added in 2020. This team works to archive departmental documents, as well as maintain the Tribal Council resolutions and meeting minutes repository. The vast inventory extends backward into the 1920s, and is a great resource for looking up past resolutions.
