Eligibility:

Mino Bimaadiziwin Wellness Clinic offers culturally informed mental health services to American Indians/Native Americans tribal members and descendants of tribal members. Our approach is to provide healing services to the entire family system that are rooted in cultural and traditional values.

Our Anishinaabeg name, “Aanikoobijiganag Inawendiwin,” is broken into two words.  “Aanikoobijiganag” means ancestors.  “Inawendiwin” means relational accountability or interconnection.  Together this means: in healing, we heal ourselves and we heal our ancestors.  In doing so, we are healing our families and communities.

Red Lake Supportive Housing at Mino Bimaadiziwin offers the following services:

Housing Support (formerly GRH) is a program for people who have experienced long-term
homelessness. There are 28 units in the Mino Bimaadiziwin apartment complex that are designated for
this program.

To qualify, a potential tenant:

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must have a disabling condition, such as a mental illness, learning disability, chemical
  dependency, physical disability, or developmental disability
• Must have experienced a lack of permanent place to live continuously for a year or
  more or at least four times in the past three years.
• Must have a limited income (e.g., GA, SSI, MFIP)
• Preference given to those who are Native American

Recipients of this service receive a grant (GRH) through the state of Minnesota. The Red Lake Housing
Support Program manages qualifying individuals’ grants to assist them with paying rent. For some
individuals, Red Lake may also pay some of their utilities or other expenses. As part of the program, Red
Lake Housing also provides housing case management services to help individuals maintain their
housing. This may include advocacy, life skills training, inspections, connection to community resources,
coordination with other providers, as well as other needed services.

Adult Mental Health Targeted Case Management (TCM) is also available to residents of the housing
program. This service provides intensive, culturally-sensitive support to assist individuals with serious
and persistent mental illness (SPMI). TCM helps participants gain access to necessary services, including
educational, medical, dental, social, vocational, cultural and other services. TCM provides assessment
and planning for each client to create an individual community support plan (ICSP), which includes the
client’s individual goals. TCM will make referrals to community resources and mental health and other
services that support achievement of these goals. TCM also provides ongoing monitoring of client
engagement with services and resources, with an emphasis on coordinating care with all members of
the client’s treatment team.

Cultural Coordination/Programming is also available for residents of the Mino Bimaadiziwin
apartments. This service provides clients with opportunities to connect to cultural activities that support
recovery. The Cultural Coordinators educate and assist clients with accessing cultural programming and
activities happening within their community, as well as provide 1:1 and group sessions at Mino
Bimaadiziwin. While most of the programming at Mino Bimaadiziwin is focused on supporting the clients
of the Housing Support program, some activities are open to the larger community and public.

Wiinodewe Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Wiinodewe Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a partnership between the Red Lake Nation
and Native American Community Clinic. The program is rooted in indigenous spiritual practices
and offers a culturally-centered approach to treating substance use disorders.

Areas of care include, but are not limited to:

• Individualized programming with a gradual step-down
• Daily prayer & cultural teachings by NACC’s Elder in Residence
• Medication assisted treatment options
• Health education
• Relapse prevention
• Individual, family, and group therapy
• Peer Recovery Support

Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) is available to patients who struggle with heroin, prescription opioids or other opioid addictions. Wiidookodaadiwin is a partnership with the Native American Community Clinic and is located at 1213 E Franklin Ave Minneapolis MN 55404. Van transportation service is available between sites.

The Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians is the founder, licensor and operator of the Mino-
Bimaadiziwin Child Care Center. The aim is to provide high quality and culturally responsive
child care for Native American children and families in the metro area. Especially those with
irregular schedules and added demands due to attending school as adult learners and parenting
as a single parent household. To accommodate this, the child care program has "drop-in" care
option, in which children participate on a one time only or occasional basis.

Mino-B child care center is located at 2115 Cedar Ave. S. Minneapolis. Hours of operation are
Monday – Friday 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. We care for children from 6 weeks old to 13 years of
age.

We work with the 7 metro counties for Child Care Assistance program and can assist in filling
out paperwork.
